LG’s Rs 5,000-cr Sri City unit took shape in record 7 months: Lokesh

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh’s emphasis on speed, execution and investor confidence was underlined as Minister for IT, Electronics & Communications and HRD Nara Lokesh showcased the rapid progress of LG Electronics’ Rs 5,000-crore manufacturing facility at Sri City, achieved within just seven months of land handover in May 2025.
Taking to social media, Lokesh highlighted the pace and scale of the project, calling it a clear example of the State’s “Speed of Doing Business” in action. In a post on X, he said, “From land handover in May ’25 to remarkable progress today – LG Electronics’ Rs 5,000 crore world-class manufacturing facility in Sri City is moving at speed and scale!” He noted that the project reflects Andhra Pradesh’s ability to move swiftly from approvals to execution while maintaining quality and global standards.
The minister said the facility, spread over 247 acres, will be LG Electronics’ third manufacturing plant in India. It will produce refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines and key components. Lokesh added that the project will play a critical role in “strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s manufacturing ecosystem and creating thousands of jobs”, reinforcing the State’s focus on employment-led industrial growth.
As per the Minister’s X post, commercial production at the Sri City facility is planned to begin by the end of 2026, with phased expansion continuing through 2029. This phased approach is expected to align capacity growth with market demand, while steadily expanding employment and ancillary opportunities in the region. Expressing satisfaction over the project’s momentum, Lokesh said in his tweet, “Thrilled to witness this leap in industrial progress – Andhra Pradesh continues to deliver for investors, youth and jobs!”
He said the LG Electronics project stands as a strong validation of the trust global firms place in AP’s governance model, policy stability, and execution capability.
The government has facilitated the project through timely land allocation, coordinated clearances and continuous engagement with the investor, ensuring that commitments translate swiftly into visible outcomes on the ground.
